May 13, 2011 ~
We woke up early to get everyone to the family courthouse in Spartanburg by 8:30am! Some special friends also showed up (Mona Garcia- our sweet neighbor and friend; Tiffany and Josh Moore- friends we recently met this last year at church). Nee Nee was also there!!! We waited anxiously in the over crowded waiting room for our attorney, Ray Godwin to come in and get us. I couldn't help to wonder why most of those people were there waiting . . . perhaps over family disputes or as one guy mentioned parole, but I was pretty sure that our family seemed the happiest to be there! After anxiously waiting, and making 2 potty trips (I dont' know why my kids think it is so fun to use public restrooms, yuck!!!) our attorney came in to get us at 9am. We went into a tiny room for a minute and then headed down to the little courtroom. When we walked in, my eyes watered as it began to hit me. Noah's guardian ad litem was there and everyone was so happy. You were very vocal and happy that morning too! I think you knew that today was your BIG day. At around 9:15am, we stood as the judge came out- Judge Sinclair. Dan took the stand to answer the main questions. I took the stand after him. It was the quickest 15 minutes ever . . . before I knew it we were standing with the judge and Ray taking family pictures. We celebrated the rest of the day by spending it together- went to Nick's end of the school year program, then headed to Greenville to get some lunch and stopped by our adoption attorney's office to sign the adoption tree. Marion and several other ladies were there to greet us and take pictures. It was a very special time signing that tree on their wall as it signified it was a done deal and you are now legally our son! What a great feeling. What a celebration and one that we look forward to celebrating for years to come! We love you son!!!

2 weeks . . .
April 28th -
You were sitting in your highchair and daddy was feeding you your dinner. He said, "In 2 weeks you will be a Yacoviello." And ever so sweetly, you looked up at him and just smiled!
What a precious moment.

Learning so many new things . . .
Friday, April 22nd-
Today while at Nick's preschool Easter party, you were in your carseat/stroller and you had your blanket up over your face with one little eye peeking out. After a few seconds, you quickly took it off and smiled really big at me. I said peek-a-boo and you did it again. It is so cute!
Monday, April 25th-
Your interventionist, Tori, was here and when we sat you up, you did so well and sat there all by yourself! You are sitting up like such a big boy now!
Thursday, April 28th-
Felt your bottom right tooth beginning to poke through. Thus explains the super snotty nose and chewing on every single thing you can!

Rough Week!!! April 3rd
You had such a rough week last week - you were sick with a bad stuffy nose and lots and lots and lots of congestion along with a fever ranging from 101-103. After having this for 3 days, I took you to see Dr. Yelton, where you scared me by testing low on your oxygen level. We were all thinking that your RSV test was going to be positive, but were surprised when it, along with the flu test both came back negative. He went ahead and checked your white blood cell count and it looked good as well. We left as puzzled as can be. Guess you had just a nasty virus! Thankfully the fever went away on Friday and by Saturday you were getting back to being yourself! STILL no teeth . . . Your weight at this visit was 18lbs 5oz.

March 30th, 2011- You are getting up on hands and knees and trying so hard to crawl that way. You are loving the fact that you can army crawl your way around to get things!!! Mobile baby = busy mama!

"baby brother"
I know I have been posting several times a week for the past few weeks, but I have been keeping this blog as more of a journal now so that some day we can look back and Noah can look back and see how much he is loved and the process we went through to adopt him. We feel like it is extremely important as he gets older to be able to tell him as much as possible about his birth, childhood, biological parents etc.
Anyways, I had to write this in here, because it is just a reminder of how much you are loved and it just made me smile when I saw it :).
I went to my Tuesday morning MOPS meeting as usual and after it was over, I walked in your room to pick you up and I had Nick and Camille with me as well. They ran into the little swing door and one of the ladies was holding you on her lap. They immediately went over to you and began hugging on you and talking to you in their little baby talk as if they hadn't seen you in several days.
It definitely made me smile and so thankful for you in our lives! We love you!

A court date soon???
So, we feel like we are so close to having everything finalized, but yet so far away!
We spoke with our attorney's office yesterday and now that the birthfather add has run and the 30 day wait is over, we can now apply for a final court date. We also have to have your Guardian Ad Litem over for a short interview on your behalf. I am thrilled that we are F.I.N.A.L.L.Y. at this step and we are keeping our fingers crossed to hopefully get a court date in April.
You have definitely just fit right into our family since the beginning, but to have all the legal work and to officially have your last name YACOVIELLO will be a great thing!!!!

Rolling Over . . .
So, you have had the rolling over from your tummy to your back down pat for a while now! In fact, you are such a pro at it that you even do it during the night and decide to wake us up about it!!!
Our next goal was for you to roll from your back to your tummy, so we began to work on that! Saturday (March 5th) you decided, while mommy was out of the room, that you would roll over for the first time from your back to your tummy! Daddy clapped and I ran into the room and you did several more times! Yay!!!!
You are growing so fast!

Beginning Early Intervention . . .
Two weeks ago you met your Early Interventionist (EI), Tori Miller. This week, 2/28, you had your first visit where she assisted you in working on sitting up, rolling over and using your legs and feet more.
You babbled, squeeled and said "dadada" a lot and you seemed to really like her. At first you weren't so sure but it didn't take long for you to warm right up to her.
You are so close to rolling over (from back to tummy). I bet it will only be a week or so before you brave it and cross that leg over and roll over all by yourself!
We are working on getting you a Physical Therapist (PT) as well to help with some leg stiffness and loosen up those muscles as well as enforce the use of your feet. Selfishly I would not have taken this route or wished for this, but it has been so neat to see God's hand in all of it. ALL. Of. It!
We love you sweet Noah and am so blessed to have you as a part of our family!

Happy 6 months old big man!!!
6 months! You are growing so fast! Seems like I just cleaned out your dresser drawers, taking out all the 3 month clothes to replace them with 6 month things and now your 6 month clothes are quickly becoming short and snug on you. You are enjoying your solid foods, especially when I cook you steamed sweet potatoes. Carrots are definitely your least favorite and one day you even clasped your lips together so I couldn't feed you anymore! You newest food is squash- you like it okay.
You are babbling, cooing and are blessed with some strong vocal chords :)! It's cute when you make a noise and have someone else copy you- you are fascinated with that! I also love it when you say "dadadadada"!
You are putting anything and everything into your mouth that you can get your little hands on! Busy, busy! You love to be held by mommy and daddy and last Wednesday when I dropped you off in the church nursery you looked back and wimpered for the first time!
We enjoyed a quick trip to NeeNee and Papa's house over the weekend. You know how NeeNee loves to get her Noah love! She also let you try some banana - Mmmmm! You loved that too! NeeNee is going to have you spoiled rotten!
Today you got to meet your Early Interventionist, Tori. She is nice. You will be seeing her weekly for developmental intervention and we are working on getting approved to see a therapist to make sure your leg muscles are developing properly. I am so glad we are receiving this help for you! Tori's first goals for you are for you to use more of your leg muscles for a longer period of time; for you to roll over from your back to stomach; and for you to start sitting up.
One last thing, I thought was too cute and had to journal on here . . . Millie looked at you today and then looked at me and said, "I can't hold Noah anymore, he too big for me." She is right, you are getting so long and you are such a strong little fella. Growing up so fast!

5 months . . .
You turned a wopping 5 months on Monday! Today I took you to your well-check appointment with Dr. Yelton.
You now weigh 15lbs 6oz and are 27 1/2" long! You are getting so big!
Dr. Yelton enjoyed seeing you again and you coo'd and made lots of sweet sounds for him. When he was checking you, you giggled at him. He is such a good Dr. and we are thankful for him!
You did get 4 shots today - you didn't even cry for a minute though, but they did make you feel bad the rest of the day.
Another good thing happened this week. At your 2 month well-check appointment Dr. Yelton was concerned with your muscle stiffness and your feet. He mentioned Cerebral Palsy and that we would just keep an eye on your development. In the meantime, thanks to a sweet friend, I was able to get in touch with the lady that is over the Pediatric PT. She put me in touch with Babynet and after weeks of phone calls and trying to get an appt. for you to be assessed, I finally got on the list! I was thrilled!

I talked with your birthmom on Christmas Eve and then the week after New Years. I told her all the new things you are doing and told her how much you are changing and growing. She said that you are going to be a big boy. She described your birthfather as "a large guy with broad shoulders." I told her you don't miss a meal and enjoy your bottle and cereal. She said you get that from her.
I told her you love to kick your feet and when you are doing tummy time you move your feet constantly and end up off the blanket. She said when she was pregnant with you that you were a wiggly baby and sometimes kept her up at night you moved so much.

Happy 1st Christmas and New Year Noah!!!
You opened your first pair of Christmas jammies (with Daddy's help of course) and enjoyed your first stocking and pile of presents! You play with your carseat toy and you smile at your Sing-a-ma-jig everytime we play him for you! Your big gift was a bullseye pony that you ride on and he makes noises . . . so cute!
It was a special Christmas for us because you were added to our family just 4 1/2 months ago. Your brothers and sisters love you to pieces and so do your Daddy and I! You are a special part of our family.
After opening up presents Christmas morning we went down to spend the rest of Christmas day at Nee Nee and Pa Pa's house where you opened another pile of presents- clothes, cars, balls etc! What a big day!!! Your little eyes were bright and you were as happy as you always are!
You also got to experience your first snow on Christmas day, which is a rare thing!
2 days later we packed the van again and made our way to Pittsburgh to spent 4 days with your Grandparents, cousins and aunts and uncles. Greatgrandma Yacoviello enjoyed seeing you again- she had been asking about you since we were up for your birth . .. she remembered you!!! I thought that was precious!
We are spending our first day back home resting, recooperating and finding places for all these gifts!
We love you Noah and Happy 1st Christmas and New Year!!!!
